Product Description

Stone Shield Fire Barrier EN is a wire-reinforced, high-density fire-resistant curtain manufactured using our proprietary basalt stone fibers. Designed to inhibit the spread of fire and smoke through building cavities, it offers superior performance for both horizontal and vertical applications and meets the requirements of BS the latest EN 1364-1:2015

Key Features

  • Up to EI 120 fire resistance (BS EN 1364-1:2015)
  • Fully tested at 50mm thk WF report No.521289/R and 60mm thk WF report No.544490/R
  • Basalt stone fibre construction
  • Wire-reinforced for structural strength
  • Foil facing (optional on 1 or 2 sides)
  • Lightweight and easy to install
  • Fully tissue encapsulated for fiber free handling
  • Reduces flanking sound transmission

Applications

  • Cavity barriers above partitions
  • Concrete soffits and floor slabs
  • Timber trusses and joists
  • Suspended ceiling voids
  • With service penetrations

Historically tested/conforms to the following standards:
BS476:part 4, 1970 non-combustibility of building materials
BS476: part 6,1989 Fire propagation of building materials
BS479: part 7,1987 surface spread of Flame
BS476:part22,1987 Fire tested for building materials in non load bearing elements of construction

Acoustic Performance

Provides excellent acoustic absorption in cavity spaces.

No. Description Sound Reduction
1 Typical wet felt ceiling tile in lay-in-grid system 30 dB
2 As above + 50mm thick TC hung vertically from soffit leaving no gap and with a 150mm overlap on top of ceiling 43 dB
3 Installed as (2) but Fireshield faced with foil on one side 45 dB
4 Two independently hung barriers with foil facing on both sides 50 dB

Installation

Fixed mechanically with angle supports and clamping plates. Refer to installation guide for details on overlaps, joint treatments, and spacing.
