Application
The Stoneshield Soffit Slab is designed to fill the void within the soffit, providing a fire and thermal barrier between dwellings. The barrier is manufactured from rockfibre mineral wool, with a foil facing.
Installation
The person installing the Stoneshield Soffit Slab should first familiarise themselves with this datasheet, ensuring the correct product is being fitted into the cavity.
Stoneshield Soffit Slab is designed to be cut to size to fill the void within the soffit at the party wall location. The product must fully fill the soffit with no gaps remaining, and it is recommended that the slab is fixed using supplied fixings to provide extra support in the event of a fire.
- Measure the size of the soffit at the party wall junction, taking the roof pitch and brick height into account. We recommend adding 5mm to your measured dimensions to ensure a tight fit.
- Cut the slab to size using these measurements, ensuring complete coverage.
- Push fit the slab into place allowing a minimum 75mm overlap with the party wall leaf.
- Secure through to the timber batten using the supplied helical fixing.
- Handle carefully to avoid damaging the mineral wool.
Fire Properties
Stoneshield Soffit Slab complies with building regulations for fire stopping at the pitched roof party wall detail, as well as NHBC 7.2.16.
Standards
Manufactured using rockfibre mineral wool achieving Euroclass A1 fire classification to BS EN 13501-1. Thermal conductivity: 0.037W/mK.
Fixing
Fire tested without fixings, but when installed into a non-combustible substrate, it can achieve fire performance held by compression. PVC soffits may deform in a fire, so fixings are recommended.
Storage & Packaging
Supplied in polythene packs. Store out of direct sunlight, ideally indoors or under cover. Cover products at night or during bad weather.
Environment
No CFCs or HCFCs used in manufacturing. Green Guide rating: A+. Can be disposed of via landfill or returned for recycling.
Health & Safety
Not classed as a possible human carcinogen. Assessed under COSHH. Material Safety Datasheet available on request.
